In my eyes, Sunday nights are for pizza! Sometimes we order one in, and if we are feeling extra ambitious, we will make our own. Honestly, the homemade pizzas always turn out so much tastier to me then take out! We like to pick out pizzas from our favorite pizza spots and attempt to make them on our own, with a little twist.
There is nothing better than a cheesy, herby crispy pizza with a little bit of sweet and salty mix. This sausage and goat cheese herby pizza is to die for, and is super easy to make with simple ingredients. The favor bomb from the Italian sausage mixed with the sweet, creamy goat cheese and topped with hot honey is the best combination. Finish this bad boy with fresh basil, and be prepared to want to make this every night of the week. We used pre-made cauliflower crust from Trader Joes, but you can use any type of pizza crust you desire.
I honestly don't measure the specific amounts when it comes to pizza. I feel like the sauce to cheese ratio is so personal to everyone. So simply top your pizza to your liking!
This pizza is so good, that I didn't even dip it in ranch... and I dip everything in ranch. This could be the perfect date night dinner or appetizer as a flatbread :)
Hope you enjoy!
XO Alex
Serves: 2-4 (depends on how much pizza you want)
The goods:
Italian sausage
Cauliflower crust, or any pizza crust
Goat cheese
Mozzarella cheese
Garlic salt
Basil
Rosemary
Marinara sauce
Mike's Hot Honey
Get to cooking:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees and bake your pizza crust or cauliflower crust to instructions (if needed before making pizza). For the Trader Joes cauliflower crust, I bake for 10 minutes on each side before assembling
Brown Italian sausage chunks on the stove until cooked through. I like to keep mine in big chunks
Assemble pizza: Layer marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, goat cheese, sausage, garlic salt and rosemary on pizza crust
Bake for 5-10 minutes or until cheese is melted
Top with fresh basil and Mikes Hot Honey
Enjoy :)
